Why can’t everyone just be happy? Life would be so much better if we all just got along and kept a smile on our faces! There’s so much drama in junior high and I hate it. Wouldn’t it just be better if we all just got along and had nothing to hold against one another? Well since that wasn’t a rhetorical question, I’ll answer it. YES, it would be much better and life would be much more enjoyable if we all just loved each other. Everyone would be friends, and nobody would have to worry about what others thought about them.
I definitely can’t say that I am some pro at being happy all the time, but I can definitely say that I try. Being sad is the worst feeling, and so I try to avoid it as much as possible. My personality is just kind of a “whatever” personality. If you haven’t already noticed I don’t care what people think about me, and so therefore I have a lot of haters. People don’t often want to give me a chance, but you know what, WHO CARES? I sure don’t. There are a lot of people that love me for who I am, and that is all I need. And you shouldn’t care either, so here is a quote for you.
“Say what you say and feel what you feel, for those who matter won’t care, and those who care don’t matter!”
If we all just dropped our grudges and all of the things that we are holding against people, being happy might be a little bit easier. When someone does something that might affect us or hurt our feelings we, as human beings, seem to never forget them. I have something to say to that, FORGIVE AND FORGET! You can get mad, but then you just have to get over it. Staying mad at the person forever won’t get you anywhere; soon enough you’ll just find yourself missing the person that you are supposed to be very strongly disliking. This is a big step in being happy, just forgive. Now is that too much to ask?
This next reason relates to Lizzy Thompson’s blog from last week. When someone says something, even if it could be taken as rude, take it as a joke and laugh about it. Even if the person meant it to be rude, just make it into something funny. Laughing is good for the soul, so you should do it often. Laughing is quite enjoyable, if I do say so myself. When someone, usually out of nowhere, comes up to me and totally disses on me, I just laugh and walk away. Well I can’t say that I do that all the time, but I try to do that every time. When I do that, it intimidates the person and then they will leave you alone. So just remember this laughy step, it is the most important. Just be happy, and remember that life short. So don’t waste it pouting and sulking, make the most out of it.

Nervous Reck
Well, a couple blogs ago I was writing about track so let me fill you in. The track season has finally started, no more conditioning! In fact, we had our first track meet yesterday. I was more nervous for that meet than I have been a LONG time! It was a lot of fun though, just being able to improve your times and cheer other teammates on. I did improve my times, especially on the 400 meter. I got six seconds off my time! Now about shot put...we won't even get into that! Let's just say that I didn't do too well.
The track meet was just crazy and unorganized, like every first track meet is. We started late and the meet lasted forever. I spent most of my time sitting around and cheering, since I only competed in two events, shot put and the 400 meter. I've been sick and was already loosing my voice, and after that meet and cheering so much, let's just say that it's gone. Even though there wasn't very much to do, it was fun because your friends are there. Friends make everything better! It's good bonding time, just to sit and talk!
The shot put, let's just say that...WHOA I SUCKED! There were some really good girls there. That was my first meet, so hopefully I'll get better...hopefully! I wasn't the worst, and that's all that I was shooting for. Now the 400 meter dash, I almost peed my pants because I was so scared, I don't think that I have been more scared for anything in my whole life. The worst part is the anticipation of waiting for the race. Just sitting there and wondering if you are going to do good or not. I literally almost died! But finally it was my turn, and standing there waiting for him to shoot the gun was horrible. My stomach was churning and my vision was blurring. It was bad; I totally thought that I was going to faint or something. Finally he shot the gone, and I was off. I ran my guts out until the very end, wanting to kill everyone in front of me….AHHH! I didn't win but I got my PB (personal best). This track meet was a lot of fun, and I can't wait until the next one. I am going to work my butt off at track this week so that I can do better for the next track meet. It won’t be hard to improve; since I can’t do any worse then I did yesterday!

Reading Isn't All That Bad!
I must start off stating the fact that I don’t LOVE to read. It’s not my favorite thing to do, but I don’t despise it. Reading is a very important skill that all of us should have learned by now, and reading books for entertainment is a good way to exercise that skill. Reading is good in the way that it makes you think; it makes you use your brain a little bit. It also makes you think creatively. The stories that you read can be whatever you want them to be, you just need to use your imagination. If nobody ever read what would this world be like? If everyone just sat around and watched T.V. all day would anybody have any real knowledge? Reading is good, but you have to have a desire to make it really meaningful and worthwhile.
The most important reason why we should all read is the fact that it makes you think. Unlike watching a movie or a T.V. show, you actually have to concentrate to understand and follow the book that you are reading. When watching T.V. you can just sit there and watch, but in a book you actually have to use your brain. Reading also builds the creative side of your brain. When you are reading a story, you are the one who gets to create the pictures that go with it. When creating the scenes your mind, you can make them to be whatever you want, you are the creator. The more creative you are with your imaginary pictures, the more fun the story will become. Reading is just a good way to make your brain grow!
Along with making you think, it also makes you more knowledgeable. As you read you build your reading skills along with other skills such as writing, grammar, interpretation, and just flat out thinking. As Mr. T. said, you can’t write if you can’t read. Reading is like the “must” subject, if you can’t read, you can’t do anything. Watching T.V. and other electronics are taking over the world, and before you know it all of our brain cells are going to be dead. Therefore, reading books to increase you knowledge and to improve your skills, will keep you living. If I had no knowledge, I think I would rather be dead.
Overall, reading is just good for you. It makes you think while it keeps you interested and entertained. It makes your brain grow, and is constantly working your creative side as well. It also challenges you in ways that other things don’t along with adding to your skills. As I said, everything depends on reading. You can’t do anything without it, it’s an essential skill. It’s your choice if you make reading an important part of your life. Reading can be fun; it’s just all up to you to make it that way.
This was the essay that I wrote for English about why reading is important. Before I wrote this I never had a desire to read, and now after looking at all of the advantages of it, I kind of look foward to reading at night!
