DRAMA!!

Over the last couple of weeks I have really gotten a taste of how mean we, as girls, can be. We pull each other's hair, gossip about each other, and glare at each other. We can be friends one day, but the next day we could totally hate each other. Our lives are always so dramatic and confusing. If a boy were a girl for one day, they wouldn’t be able to handle it. He would probably start crying after one minute of experiencing the many trials we experience everyday of our lives. I guess that’s we are so mean, because are lives are soooo hard (hehehaha)!

Girls aren’t just naturally mean, they have reasons…..and usually boys are involved. We are fifteen, the age of boys, boys, and more boys! Our main goal is to have a boyfriend, or at least be noticed by a boy. Girls live on the satisfaction of being noticed by a person of the opposite gender. Boys are probably the main reason why girls get in fights, and this is sometimes how it works. There will be two girls who are best friends, one will get a boy, and the other one won’t. The girl that does get the boy will rub it in her friend’s face until her friend gets so jealous that she wants to physically hurt her BEST friend. There is also the scenario where the girl without the boyfriend will still her friend’s boyfriend. This is a not a good situation that you want to be caught in the middle of. I personally think that boy’s aren’t worth it, they’re all too immature until after high school anyway (that does not mean that I don’t like them right now though)!

The drama in school is bad right now, but it’s only going to get worse. High school is a home for drama to live in. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I’m totally terrified! School is supposed to be fun, not full of tears, broken hearts, and all of those of DRAMATIC affairs. Why can’t you just like a guy, break up with him, and then move on to the next one? You need a little taste of all the flavors out there anyway! Just remember that life is good, even if you don’t have a boyfriend. Good things still happen to you…trust me! I have never had a boyfriend and life is great! I don’t go to school everyday trying to impress anyone, I just go to sit through it and enjoy my friends!

"Losers"

Everyday as I walk down the hall I hear people constantly judging other people. Someone might look at somebody else and immediately decide whether they are a so called "loser" or not by the way they look, act, or by the people they hang out with. I absolutely hate this! Nobody......NOBODY is a loser. Who cares about the way they look or act, they are people with feelings too. In the end, we are all the same so just be nice to everybody.

I truly don't understand why people are mean to the "not so cool" people. Does it make them feel good? Are they proud of themselves when they do? I think that the main reason is because they are either trying to impress their friends or else they just want to make themselves feel better. When people are mean to others, it make themselves feel better for a tiny moment but after that satisfaction is over they just regret what they have done. So why do people even do it in the first place? As I said a lot of the time it is because they are trying to act cool in front of their friends. "Friends" who encourage you to be mean and put down others aren't your true friends anyway.

I try my hardest everyday to be nice to everyone. When I talk to people who don't often get talked to because of their social statis, you should see the smile that comes to their face. It boosts their self confidence immediately. Not only does it make them feel better but it also makes me feel like I've accomplished something as well. I love to make people smile, and so that is what I strive to do everyday.

How would you feel if you were the one who was constantly getting picked on? Think of this way...don't you hate when people gossip and you know it is about you? That is exactly what it is like for the "losers", except that instead of people doing it quietly, they do loud so everybody can hear it. All the time I think about how I would feel if this happened to me. It would SUCK butt nuggets! I would dread coming to school everyday. So that is why I like to be nice to EVERYBODY no matter what!

I dare all of you just to be nice! Give the "losers" compliments and talk to them as if they were one of your friends. Maybe even make one of them your friends. Doing this will make you feel better and maybe even change someone else's life!

Horrifying Homework!

“Hey Alexa…..Alexa come here.” Sorry, that was my homework calling my name; it’s actually quite disturbing. Everyday I come home and unload my fifteen mile high stack of homework and pile it up on my bedroom floor. And everyday, just as I sit down to take a little breather, it starts calling my name. Most of the students that get assigned this pathetic amount of homework would agree with me that it sucks! Now teachers, think of this way… imagine coming home from school after a long busy day. Do you really want to come home from school and go straight to doing homework, or would you prefer to take a little snooze and hang out with your friends (or in your case your family)? I’m almost positive that you prefer the sleep. Teachers always complain about how students are always moaning and groaning over homework. So I have a solution, just get rid of it! Just kidding, I know that is not possible so you can just lessen the amount. There are many reasons why teachers should give less homework, like the fact that it gives teachers more work as well as students. Most of it is useless anyway and giving too much homework makes us, already ornery students, lose sleep. I do understand that some people may disagree with me. Some people think that homework is good; it helps students practice new skills. And some people might think that kids just talk too much during class; otherwise they would get it done in class. A lot of teachers give us so much work that it is impossible to get accomplished in class no matter how hard you work. I know that it is not possible to eliminate homework and that is not what I am trying to get across anyway. Teachers should just give less homework.
The first reason why teachers should not give so much homework is because a lot of the homework we receive is absolutely pointless. A lot of the work we get assigned is just busy work that doesn’t teach us one thing. Many of the projects that we have teach us nothing about the subject that we are actually learning about in class. They are just long, hard, and time consuming. For example, in geography, we were assigned “The ABC Book” where we had to find one thing in Europe’s culture for each letter of the alphabet. This was a hard assignment and took me forever but I don’t remember one thing. When I am forced to do pointless work, I don’t ever remember anything about it. Yes, we were learning about Europe but were we tested on the assignment she gave us? NO! I guess she thought it would be a “fun” assignment that provided us with “nice to know” information. It was a horrible assignment that took me over three hours. In addition to teaching us nothing, a lot of the homework teachers give us is just for discipline. A lot of the time teachers get mad and as a spur of the moment thing, yell out a big assignment that will be due the next day. Sometimes we don’t even have to do anything, they are just having a bad day and so they take it out on us by assigning us ridiculously large amounts of homework. I even have proof that teachers aren’t supposed to do that. On page three of the district homework page it says “Homework should never be assigned as punishment.” Think about it, is that really fair to students anyway? No, it just gives teachers the amazing pleasure of torturing their students.
Another reason why teachers should reduce the amount of homework is because is it makes us, as students, lose valuable sleep. Many kids stay up into the wee hours of the night to do homework. Teachers, if you didn’t already know, we have lives apart from school. We play sports and have other hobbies that take up time as well. We don’t always have time for 4 hours of homework. Along with hobbies, sometimes there are just not enough hours in the day to complete ALL of the homework that we are assigned. Some days we receive so much homework that even if we worked all night long on it, we still wouldn’t get it finished. On the district homework page it says that as ninth graders we shouldn’t have more than 90-120 minutes of homework each night, and sometimes I get that much in one class. I think that teachers need to make a schedule so that we don’t get too much homework in one night. For me, when I get too much homework, I really don’t learn anything from it. After a while I just kind of feel like a robot doing homework as a command and not as a helpful practice. To be able to stay awake and concentrate in school, we need our sleep. Our brains are growing in our teenage years and sleep is a need, not a want. So therefore, homework is a robber…..a robber of needed shut eye.
The last and most important reason benefits teachers, as well as students. Teachers, just to fill you in, homework gives you just as much extra work as it gives students. You see, you guys have to think it up and correct it. A lot of the time I hear my teachers complaining about having to stay after school, and a lot of the time it is because they have to deal with our homework. The teachers are the ones who actually have to create the homework before they actually can assign it to us. After they assign they have to correct it as well. My Spanish teacher, Mrs. Bruckman, has to go home every night and do the homework we receive so that she has something to correct off the next day. If you didn’t assign us so much then you wouldn’t have to use your creative mind and correcting hand so much. You would have more time to spend on yourself. Wouldn’t you just like to be able to go home, grab a coke, and kick back on the couch? There is a solution, don’t waste your time with so much homework!
Now do you see my point? Teachers really need to consider giving less homework. Not only does it give teachers more work, but it takes away time that they could be spending with their family and doing what they want. A lot of the time it doesn’t teach us anything anyway and it takes our desperately needed sleep away. We can learn just as much by doing work in class as we can by doing it at home. In fact, I think I learn more by doing it in class because we can get help understanding the concept from our teachers. Teachers, giving less homework will be benefiting you in more than one way. It will give you more free time and rest time. It will also reduce the whining in your classes, if you don’t gives so much homework then that is one less thing that your students will complain about. Just imagine how much happier students, and in return, you will be if you assign less homework. Is it more work to assign less work? No, in fact, it is less work so take the “make your students happy” road and assign more of our homework as class work!

Hey all you teachers out there. Read this and get just a little taste that we as students get everyday when we are forced to do hours and hours of homework. It's not fun!

Life Sucks!

Have you ever actually thought about how dramatic and, sometimes, unfair life is? I know I have, and over the last couple of months I have been experiencing a sucky life. There have been a couple of big sucky things, and then there have been a couple of small, but still sucky, things. Even though having sucky things happen to you does....suck, they make you stronger. I have evidence that that statement is true. You could throw anything at me right now and I could handle the pain....ANYTHING! My parents have gotten divorced, I had to move, we had to give my kitty away, and I lost my very best friend. Dang, the more I think about it the more it sucks.

The thing that has probably affected me the most though is the fact that my parents got divorced. I hope that none of you will have to go through this dreadful event. It gets pretty old when day after day you sit on your bed and listen to your divorced parent fight and argue. I thought that the divorce would fix that little issue, but obviously it didn't. The worst part about it though, is deciding who to live with. Both my parents said that they wouldn't care who I chose to live with, but I could tell that deep down inside it they really did. I ended up living with my mom because that is where all my sister decided to live and I need a mom to survive my dramatic teenage years. If any of you need any counseling I am always available.

The other thing that has affected me the most is the loss of my best friend. I don't even exactly know how it happened, but unfortunately it did. I still haven't quite thought of a way to deal with it yet. This friend was the kind of friend that I could tell my deepest darkest secrets to. She was shoulder that I could cry on, and she was the only person who could truly make me pee my pants when she made me laugh. I miss her just talking about it. I don't think I could ever find any one that could replace her, I was closer to her than I was to my sisters. This has brought me closer to my other friends though, and that is a plus. Good things can come out of bad things you know.

This is my new quote, "Smile and Laugh.......and always remember that LIFE SUCKS!" And I now have proof that life doesn't always go the way you want it to. It takes weird twists and curves that you might not expect it to. But no matter what happens never give up, even if it takes your whole life things will eventually get better. They may get better in mysterious ways, but they will get better. And I don't have proof of this yet but I hope I will soon. My life will shape up eventually....I hope!
